Independent films need an audience, and sometimes that audience begins with a single share. Ahead of JCIFF Presents: Nightmares, Hudson Arts Collective is inviting filmmakers, creators, local businesses and horror fans to help spread the word through a community takeover from October 26–28, 2026.

The invitation is simple: introduce someone to the work, tell them why independent film matters to you and give them a way to join the experience. You can participate from Jersey City or wherever you follow the independent film community.

Share a Film or a Filmmaker’s Story

Post an official Nightmares flyer, share the event page or repost a filmmaker feature using promotional materials you have permission to share. Add your own perspective: perhaps a film’s premise caught your attention, a filmmaker’s process inspired you or you want to support more spaces for independent storytelling.

Tag the Hudson Arts Collective and JCIFF accounts and use #JCIFFNightmares so your post can connect with the wider community conversation.

Bring Someone Into the Experience

Invite a friend to attend the free Jersey City screening or watch online. The program includes six independent horror shorts and a filmmaker panel, offering a chance to discover new work and hear directly from the people behind it.

The event takes place Wednesday, October 28, from 3–5 p.m. Eastern at the Cunningham Branch of the Jersey City Free Public Library, 275 Martin Luther King Drive. The online premiere starts at 3 p.m. Eastern the same day.

For WAJ’s community of creatives, the takeover offers a practical way to support fellow storytellers: share their work, make an introduction and help their films reach someone new.
