Creatives don't let other creatives create alone.

That is the founding philosophy of Creatology, the Tampa-based organization that has spent five years building a space where artists, musicians, writers, poets, designers, and entrepreneurs can come together not just to network, but to connect, heal, and grow.

Creatology Residency Week returns for its 5th year, running Monday, July 6, through Saturday, July 11, 2026, in Tampa Bay. What began as a two-day creative conference has grown into a full six-day residency-style experience that draws creatives from across the country.

**The Creative Roots Fund**

This year's Creatology Residency Week is marking its milestone anniversary by launching the Creative Roots Fund — a $4,000 scholarship initiative designed to award two to three deserving emerging creatives with financial support for their artistic journey.

The fund reflects a core understanding that money is one of the most consistent barriers between creative people and their full potential. By removing that barrier — even partially — for a handful of emerging artists, Creatology is investing directly in the future of the creative community.

Fundraising for the Creative Roots Fund is ongoing leading up to the residency week. Those who want to contribute can do so through the Creatology organization's channels.

**About Creatology**

Creatology was founded by Janelle "J'Nelle" Richardson, who created the organization from a deeply personal place. Several years ago, Richardson was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and began to understand how profoundly mental health affects creative output — and how isolated many creatives feel in their journey.

"I want creatives to remember that you do not have to do this all alone," Richardson said. "You are valuable, you are needed in this space, and you have a place where you can get your cup filled."

The six-day residency includes workshops, panels, networking events, and programming specifically designed for creatives working in music production, vocal performance, visual design, entrepreneurship, and storytelling. It is built for people who are serious about their craft and serious about building community around it.

**Why This Matters**

The creative industry has always had a mental health problem it rarely talked about publicly. The isolation of the creative process, the uncertainty of building a career in the arts, the financial instability that comes with creative work — these pressures are real, and they compound.

Creatology is one of the organizations addressing those pressures directly, not through platitudes but through programming, community, and now financial support for the creatives who need it most.
